Do’s And Don’ts Before + After Your Filler Treatment

What To Do Before Fillers

*We advise not having filler around the time of the month as the injections tend to be more uncomfortable despite local anaesthetic and you’ll have more bleeding/bruising following the injections, during this time.

  • Avoid blood thinning over-the-counter medications such as aspirin, Motrin, ibuprofen, and Aleve.
  • Avoid supplements, primrose oil, garlic, ginseng, and Vitamin E.
  • Avoid topical products such as Tretinoin (Retin-A), Retinol, Retinoids, Glycolic Acid, or any “anti-aging” products.
  • Do not drink alcoholic beverages 24 hours prior.
  • If you have previously suffered from facial cold sores, there is a risk that the needle punctures could contribute to another eruption of cold sores. Please let your nurse know if you are prone.
  • Do not use dermal fillers if you are pregnant or breastfeeding, are allergic to any ingredients, or suffer from neurological disorders.

Please keep in mind if you had your covid vaccine done and would like to book a lip filler, needs to be two weeks Pre and post, to avoid any adverse reactions to the COVID-19 vaccine.

  The Day Of Treatment

*Make sure to eat up before your treatment to prevent faintness.

• Avoid alcohol, caffeine, spicy food, and cigarettes 24hrs before and after treatment. These items contribute to increased swelling and bruising.

• You may take a Tylenol an hour before your appointment for minimal discomfort.

• Arrive at the studio with no lipstick waterproof.

  • In order to maximize your comfort during the procedure, a topical anesthetic will applied.

 What To Do After Fillers:

  • Apply an ice pack to reduce bruising.
  • Take Tylenol (acetaminophen) to reduce pain as necessary.
  • Avoid itching, massaging, or picking around the injection site. This is normal and generally disappears within a few hours to a few days.
  • Avoid drinking alcohol or partaking in strenuous exercise, as it may result in additional bruising

What are Dermal fillers?

Dermal fillers are soft, gel-like substances that are injected under the skin. They can address a number of common concerns including smoothing of deep under-eye circles, lifting of cheekbones, volumization of the lips, smoothing of lip lines and nasolabilal folds
One of the most common compounds used in dermal fillers is hyaluronic acid (HA). HA is a naturally occurring substance found in our sk

    Frequently Asked Questions

Lip injections typically last up from 6 months to one year. People with higher metabolisms or workouts a lot will experience shorter filler results because their bodies will break the filler compound down faster than those with slower metabolisms. The same goes for other treatments such as BOTOX.

I recommend waiting a minimum of 2 weeks before getting another filler. If you want bigger lips it will take a few sessions to achieve your desired lip goal specially from smaller lips.

Scheduling touch-up treatments every 6 to 12 months ensures that you maintain your results.

We often apply a topical numbing medication approximately 8-10 minutes before the treatment to the areas that will be injected to allow for a more comfortable experience during the procedure. Clients pain rate 2/10

Stylage® M Lidocaine is the first of its kind, monophasic antioxidant cross-linked hyaluronic acid based gel sterile, formulated from an animal free and biocompatible hyaluronan serum that magically lifts even the deepest of wrinkles away from around the mouth.

The antioxidant (Mannitol) plays an important role to eliminate the distressing effects of free radicals on the skin dermis, whilst stopping any gel degradation from occurring and the risk of post-injection inflammation.

Swelling last up from 2-3 days and bruising last up for 3-4 days is common after lip injections. We recommend applying an ice pack to the lips right after treatment to keep swelling to a minimum. Fully healed lips in 2 weeks.

We recommend that you should wait 7 days before you fly after dermal filler treatment.

Once the filler is completely dissolved and swelling has subsided – usually after about  1-2weeks – it is safe to have filler injected again in the same area.

It's best to wait 2 weeks after Lip/Facial fillers treatment before looking to get a natural tan or tanning bed.
