BELKYRA, also known as KYBELLA, is a breakthrough injectable treatment that targets and permanently eliminates fat cells below the chin non-surgically, creating a more refined, youthful chin profile.
How Belkyra Works
The active ingredient in Belkyra is deoxycholic acid, a naturally occurring molecule in the body that aids in the breakdown and absorption of dietary fat. When injected into the area under your chin, Belkyra targets and eliminates fat cells to restore definition to the neck and jawline. Treatment sessions are usually completed in the studio within 30 minute.
Is Belkyra safe?
Belkyra is the first and only Health Canada approved injectable treatment for the improvement of the appearance of fullness in the area under the chin, and is considered very safe.

Pre-Treatment Instructions:
•If you have a special event or vacation coming up, please keep in mind that you may want to schedule your treatment at least two weeks in advance. Swelling will occur. It is the body's natural, healthy response to go through an inflammation process to remove the fat cells from the body.
•Day of treatment take a Tylenol/Acetaminophen an hour before your appointment for minimal discomfort.
•It is recommended to discontinue the use of aspirin, NSAIDS (Aleve, Motrin, etc), fish/flax oil or any other blood thinning supplements one week before treatment to minimize bruising or bleeding. Please consult with your primary physician prior to discontinuing any prescribed blood thinning medications.
•Avoid alcohol, caffeine, niacin supplement, high-sodium foods, high sugar foods, refined carbohydrates, and spicy foods 24-48 hours before and after your treatment. These items may contribute to increased swelling or irritation.
•If you develop a cold/flu, infection, blemish, or rash, etc. in the area to be treated prior to your appointment, we recommend that you please reschedule your appointment until it resolves.
•We will not perform belkyra treatments on patients with current or past history of dysphagia “trouble swallowing”, trying to get pregnant, currently pregnant, or breastfeeding, with presence of infection at or near the injection sites.
Post-Care Instructions:
•Do not rub the area treated.
•Do not massage the area.
•Avoid irritants (glycolic, acid, retinoids, etc.) until all redness/swelling resolves.
•You may apply cool compresses/ice for 15 minutes/hour for comfort and to reduce swelling.
•Make-up may be used as long as the skin is not broken or irritated.
•Avoid use of aspirin, St. John’s Wort, and high doses of vitamin E for one week. Non-steroidal anti-inflammatories (ibuprofen) can be safely taken for discomfort.
•Avoid strenuous exercise and alcohol for 24 hours after treatment.
•Sleep on your back and with head elevated for the next 3-5 days after treatment.
•Do not have major dental work (excluding routine cleanings) for two weeks after the proposed injection procedure.
Frequently Asked Questions
On Average, it may take about 3-4 treatments. The number of treatments varies by patient. It is recommended that treatments occur every 8 weeks apart
Most patients return to regular activities immediately post procedure. You should expect some swelling, tenderness, and bruising to the injection site for the first few days, and continued swelling for up to 2 weeks. Full results will take up to 4 to 6 weeks as your body needs time to process and metabolize the broken down fat cells.

The fat cell destruction causes a burning feeling under your chin for a couple of minutes. I will apply a topical numbing cream on the treated area to minimize any discomfort.
Belkyra/Kybella in injected into the fat cells. Once injected, the fat cells in the membrane area destroyed and the fat content is then metabolized by the body to produce results in a thinner looking chin.
You have to be at least 18 years of age in order to get this treatment done.
Results are indefinite as long as post-treatment guidelines are followed. Belkyra destroys fat cells, however with improper diet new cells can grow. Targeted fat cells are destroyed permanently. To ensure proper metabolism of fat cells we require no excessively fatty/greasy foods or alcohol intake for 2 weeks post procedure. Belkyra will destroy fat cells, but with poor health new cells can grow to replace them. Excessive weight gain post treatment will also reverse or mask results. Follow a healthy diet plan, and exercise to maintain results.
